SEX AIDS

For lack of any more precise term this means anything that can be used as a substitute for a natural sex organ, or anything that can enhance pleasure before, during or after orgasm.

Aids have been used since the most ancient times; the ancient Greeks had the olisbos, an artificial penis -equivalent to the modern dildo. Originally it was made of metal, wood or leather. One version is the “shoemaker’s dildo”, found in the old days in a number of countries, including Japan; this was a light boot with a dildo projecting from the heel, a cylinder of leather in the shape of a penis, made theoretically for widows. You bent your knee to bring the heel up to your vagina, inserted the dildo and moved it in and out by bending and unbending the knee.

Dildos have been perfected since those days. They are usually made of rubber or plastic, and may be flexible or stiff. Sometimes the surface is rough or covered with small projections of various shapes for additional friction against the vaginal walls.

They are usually designed for hand holding, though there are models with a sucker on the bottom, to be fixed to the wall, a piece of furniture or the floor. This way one can vary one’s position and keep one’s hands free for stimulating the clitoris or other erogenous zones. Some have a bulb that can be filled with hot liquid to be squirted out in imitation of an ejaculation, or to wash the vagina.

Dildos are mainly used by lesbians. Some are fitted with straps which hold them in place as one of the partners imitates the male role. As an incidental point of interest, if lesbianism is a perversion, then use of a dildo is a different one, as it belies the revulsion lesbians are supposed to feel for the opposite sex. Another type of dildo designed for lesbians is the two-way dildo; the two women, positioned head to tail, each take one end into their vaginas. This practice is more strictly in line with the homosexual spirit, as the two partners give and take pleasure as women, neither acting out the role of the male.
